9 years, but who's counting?
Well my "cancerversary" is in October, but after 9 years of scheduling appointments, my yearly oncologist visit has migrated to late December. I just had my follow up with the endocrinologist today. Basically I just had some blood tests this year. The markers (thyroglobulin antibodies) continue to show I am "athyrotic"...meaning no new thyroid growth. So that is a good thing. My TSH has creeped up to 2.1, which while normal is probably a bit higher than they would like to insure no future growth of thyroid tissue.
My endocrinologist, whom I respect, says "Psssh....you're safe. There's less than a 0.1% chance of recurrence at this point."
However, the oncologist wants to monitor me for one more year. At the end of the 10th year I get the full monty....thyroxine shots, I-131 tracer and gamma scan. Not a fan of any scans, but I guess I can do one more.
My endocrinologist seems more concerned about my A1C, which has been in the upper 5's to around 6. Last time it was 5.5, so we shall see. He says as people get older they lose lean muscle mass, and lean muscle mass is what helps metabolism.
Next up neurologist.
Generally, I have been well. Got every vaccination known to man. At the internist, they gave me the pneumonia vaccine in one arm and the flu vaccine in the other. We've avoided most of the crud, but been staying in mostly.
Wishing you all a healthy, happy and blessed 2022.

Happy 9 years, glad to hear it went well. I’ve known for years how complicated the thyroid is, but I think I underestimated just how complicated; you can get a normal reading but then need more intrusive testing that could show your “real” count, etc. I guess they will increase you mcg dose? I never knew that about lean muscle mass and metabolism. I’m due for pneumonia next year and tetanus/pertussis too. Hope all goes well with the neurologist. Overall good news. God bless 😘
